Travels: Hong Kong

Travel from 2012, Hong Kong:

(Left row) Too eager to jam pack our day, Julie and I hung out in downtown Hong Kong before any of the museums were opened. We spent over an hour on a bench just sulking and observing.

(Mid top) Neat park feature centred around a historic fortress.

(Mid middle, bottom, right row): Private residential landscapes.

  1. You commented about sketching with other people/travel companions and the challenges associated with that. I concur. It is not easy to combine group travel and sketching. I have done a few outings with the Vancouver Urban Sketchers and that works pretty well because the intention is that people sit, look and draw. Having said that, I am coming to the conclusion that I am at my best as a solitary sketcher. As a pathologically sociable person, that is hard for me to admit :) The great thing about the Urban Sketchers experience has been that I am much more relaxed about drawing in public now and much less self conscious.

  2. Oh and thanks for the reference to Nicole's web site/blog. I've heard about her before, maybe from you! I'd forgotten about her. What cool work she does. I assume you have heard about Andy Goldsworthy. He does natural installations that gradually break down and blow away.
